The Brachycephallic Breed Crisis by FrostedCanid, journal
The Brachycephallic Breed Crisis
Those of you who've been following me for a while know my stand on Bracycephallic (short-faced) dog breeds.
For a long time I've known the health problems these dogs are faced with, and would educate the few people I knew in real life about the issue as best I could (friends and family). This issue brings out a fire in me that few other topics do, and now that I've begun to actually work with these dogs at my job ( a Petsmart grooming salon), it's brought the issue into a new light for me. I don't know how many of you out there know this, but at Petsmart (thank goodness) will only take brachycephallic breeds such as pugs, English bulldogs, F

After making the last poll I kind of thought about what gets people into comics. I definitely want to do a separate journal asking about what page got people into their favorite comics, because on DA it seems the consensus is that you don't usually just stumble upon the first page, but usually you see a page out of context that looks interesting and you backtrack to see how it got there. But that's another day and another journal.
So.
What is your favorite comic introduction? As in, what comics have the best first few pages/opening scene, and why? I'm referring very specifically to the beginning of the comic, and not whatever originally got

The Problem of Fan Art: Part One
I suppose I've been musing over this for a long time, and since I have released my first big piece of "real" work, I've found myself reading more about the phenomenon of "toxic fandoms."
That's not really what I'm going to talk about, though, even though I think it's a very obvious element to consider. It plays its part in the Problem of Fan Art.
And personal disclaimer: it's not like I've never done fanart myself. I obviously enjoy the aspect of fanart that is creative and expressive, and acts like the proper machine of artistic joie de vivre #notallfanart. But that allows me to move into my introduction: artists do great fanart; fanartist

Thought Piece: Maybe Don't Have This In Your Comic
Ok, so here’s a topic I never imagined I would be discussing, or would need to be discussed. And I'd still rather not be discussing it but. Maybe you shouldn’t have rape in your comic.
I want to begin this with some context. First, this was a requested topic, and second….I do agree with the requester that this trend of rape in (specifically animal) comics is both super weird and super not okay. If you’re thinking right now “I’ve never seen rape in animal comics before, is this really an issue or something you’re making up?” I’ll just say you’re lucky that you haven’t encounter
